An exploration into
how humans and
plants interact

66% of American households own at least one plant. The average plant owner has murdered 7 plants.

90% of plant owners want to communicate with their plants better.

HOW MIGHT WE

How might we identify the individual needs of different species so that plant owners can provide personalized care to their plants?

Interviews and strategy

After researching and gathering quantitative data online, I began to conduct live interviews for qualitative data.

Participant 01 - Mason Canelis

“I would hope that my plants would give me pointers for when they’re thirsty”

Participant 02 - Dustin Ravize

“If there was a smart sensor that came in a five pack, i’d buy it.”

Understanding the market is dominated by single sensor products, but plant owners need multiple sensors is pivotal to the development of the concept.

Concept Sketches

Mapping User Flows

My classmates and I grabbed our stacks of sticky notes, found a whiteboard, and began to exploring every possible way a user would interact with this app.

Wireframes

Arguably my favorite part of the design process, I began to wireframing.

Usability Testing

I started my rounds of usability testing. Surveying the task flows I laid out and their functionality.

Mid-Fidelity

After feedback from usability testing I began to change my designs and trend towards mid fidelity designs.

A/B Testing

I conducted two rounds of A/B testing of different screens, their visual looks, and their functionality.

High-Fidelity

Based off more usability testing I started to find tune the designs to begin testing high fidelity designs
